The Pawn God
Name of Artist: Ernest Agoba
Medium: Oil on Canvas
Size: 72″ inches x 54″ inches
This painting illustrates the paradox of life that sees us all as pawns and as gods. Though we are pawns, and perceived as weak, it illustrates the awesome strength in our “smallness”. Despite the “littleness” in a man’s size, he achieves victory from an internal resolve that defies physical appearance. Interestingly, man is equally perceived the other way. Despite the great strength he thinks he weilds as human, he remains weak without a knowledge of his divine possessions. A smart pawn assumes newer and higher status depending on what strategies it adopts in life. We’re all either pawns, or we are gods.
